It all started in 1981 with a book about guinea pigs. A book that somehow survived the ravages of the 1990s and the dawn of a new century.

This is no literary treasure; the illustrations are terrible, and the text is all over the the place. It’s one part care guide, one part reference book, and two parts BS.

At one point the author (who is also the illustrator and publisher) states that “nobody knows why male guinea pigs fight.” We are fairly certain this means the author’s parents didn’t have the answer to that question.

You know where this story is going.

That would-be guinea pig expert went on to work in book stores and in publishing for twenty-five years before establishing Crwth Press.

We’re not here to fix a broken industry.  We love the  book industry, and Canada is home to some incredible publishers doing amazing work.

So why are we jumping in?

Because there are more talented artists and writers than there are publishers to produce their work. And we’re here to do our part.
